
1 First of all specify the grid parameters. Open Show Grid and click on it. Make sure Snap to Grid is turned on.

To change the Preferences for Grid, press Control+K to open and select Guides and Grid. Change Gridline every to 24 pt and Subdivisions to 48.

3 Select the Pen tool and draw a straight through 3 grid sections.

4 Draw a vertical line to match the above line.

5 Choose the Arc tool.

6 Pull the vertical line upward and over to the horizontal line.
7 Choose the Direct Selection tool and highlight the two endpoints at the horizontal line. Press Control+J to join them. Choose Corner and close. Do the same for the other two touching endpoints.

8 Create two matching lines as before following the grid.
9 Choose the Arc tool and draw the second corner. Join them.

10 Choose the two opposing endpoints and press Control+J. Do the same for the other end.

11 Now make a copy of the joints.
12 Using the Rectangle tool make a rectangle.

13 Then draw another section of pipe in the same manner. To add another section in the vertical, choose both pieces and select Rotate tool. Specify 90 degrees and Copy. Move it into place. Change the colours to default. Send to back the pieces that need to be sent. As you can see it is really simple to create pipes.
